Thanks to Darryl Dash for the reminder that yesterday was Pentecost Sunday. I wouldn’t have known it from the service that I attended at [name withheld to protect the innocent] Church. I was struck by the trinitarian lyrics at the beginning of Paul Baloche’s song, “Our God Saves”:
But that was about it. I admit to not being surprised that no mention was made of Pentecost or special mention of the Holy Spirit. Few, if any, churches that I have worshiped in over the years have acknowledged, let alone commemorated, Pentecost Sunday. We deprive ourselves by not doing so.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of Life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son;
who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;
who spoke by the prophets;
